We are a four year old company baking the best seeded gluten free bread in Aotearoa. We're a small team of six, making bread for cafes and restaurants around New Zealand and running our own cafe on the weekends in Mt Eden. We’re all about great wholesome food, creating a welcoming atmosphere to enjoy it in, and doing things sustainably.  At the cafe we serve a plant based menu centered around our gluten free bread.  We also serve specialty coffee, kombucha, juices and herbal medicinal teas. 

We are looking for a Chef who is passionate about wholefoods (our menu is Vegan and gluten free), has the creativity and inspiration to experiment with new dishes, works efficiently, has an eye for presentation and detail, and can work well both alone and with others.  Organisation and time management is key as you’ll be running our small kitchen solo.

If you’d like some extra work, we’re also looking for someone to help make our seeded Freedom Loaves. The bread making is a simple process but requires precision, strength and stamina.  You will be expected to be able to lift and carry heavy bags of seeds at times and shift trays of bread. 

You will need some baking or cookery experience for this role. Chef training would be an advantage but is not required.

In addition to your hourly wage we offer staff meals, a wonderful team to work with, and some of the friendliest customers in town. 
The position is open for an immediate start. Ideally you’ll be able to join us no later than March 19th for training and induction though.

EXAMPLE WEEK’S WORK: You'll have a half a day for prep (flexible around when you want to come in and do this).  Sat & Sun you'll be cheffing from 7:30am - 3:30pm.  Tuesday you'll be bread making from 8:00am to approximately 2:00pm. We have a previous chef on call to help cover time off every now and then as we understand that working every weekend is a huge commitment on your personal time.
